Public Works is responsible for coordinating with Maintenance Department of the City's numerous roads, along with the traffic signals and signs that support them. The department is committed to beautifying and maintaining landscapes along the public rights-of-way of the City.

The Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the City’s streets, facilities and vehicles. All public trees, shrubs, lawns and parks are cut and maintained by this department. It also provides free once a week trash collection and is responsible for the shuttle bus. Residents may place trash in the right of way on the day before their scheduled collection.
The City provides a shuttle bus every hour during day and evening hours throughout the city to FIU, the city’s shopping centers, International Mall and Dolphin Mall. The service is free to all and is funded by transportation tax dollars.
